Carl Merritt to Sign Books Monday |

Carl Merritt, author of Fleet of Angels, will be in Holyoke Monday, July 7, for a book signing at Inklings Bookstore from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00p.m. Fleet of Angels, Merritt's first attempt at a science fiction novel, took first place in the First Novel Writing Competition hosted by Gardenia Press in the fall of 2000. The setting of the book is the year 2376, and the war in space has been going on for three quarters of a century. Earth, along with it's only ally, the zTurms, fight an impossible battle to defend the Milky Way from the horned aliens from Andromeda known only as the Satanians. zTurmia, Earth builds eighteen fleets of gigantic warships to turn back this invasion. This exciting adventure is about one of those great armadas, the 2nd Fleet, otherwise known as the Fleet of Angels. Merritt was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He is the principal author and owner of the highly acclaimed webzine, Abe's Tomb, which is rated as one of the top horror sites in the world. In addition to writing for his web site, Merritt writes for horror magazines and his hometown newspaper.
