Store Front

The perfect location . . . the perfect day.  It seems the closer I get to Christmas, the busier these book stores get.

The crew...

Any questions?

My first book signing of the day.  God help me, I can't remember his name, but he was a great guy, a very devoted sci-fi fan, and I DO remember he had a heart the size of Texas.

Friend, E-Mail me your name and I'll post it.

I can't really remember for sure, but I had the impression that Judy was buying a copy of Fleet for someone else.  If that's the case, I hope she takes the time to read it herself.  She seemed like a nice lady, and I'm sure she would also enjoy it.

Stefan is another sci-fi fan, of course.   After buying one copy of Fleet for himself, he bought a second copy for who I assume is the girl of his dreams.

Enjoy your dreams, Stefan.  They generally only roll around once.

Dorsey's picture would have turned out better if the flash had went off.  However, I'm sure he won't mind after he starts reading Fleet of Angels.  He seemed more interested in the book than getting his picture taken anyway.

A very smart man...

John and his wife seemed like such a nice couple, I remember taking extra care how I signed their copy of Fleet.  I hope they're happy with how I signed it.

Brian is not only a big man, but also a big sci-fi fan.  When he asked for a signed copy of Fleet, do you think I'M going to argue?

This picture came out absolutely terrible, and normally I don't post the pictures in this bad of shape.  However, Jim and Sherry seemed like such nice people, there was no way I was going to leave them out.  I just hope they see this and meet me at another book signing some day so I can get a better picture of them.
This is Steph & Heather, two of the store's employees.  I originally only had Heather in the shot, but Steph saw I was about to take her picture and came running up so fast, I thought the place was on fire.

(I love book signings!)

This is Joanna's mother--I never even got her name.  One thing I know, however, is that this gal is one heck of a lady.  She cared more about getting her daughter's name on this site than her own.

The world needs more people like this great mother.

Heather again, this time posing alongside Kristie, another of the store's employees.   I told them about Jessica and Brett at the Franklin store playing around with stuffed animals . . . and they weren't going to be left out.
Uh, er . . . their reaction when I told them that their picture was being taken by the best sci-fi writer on the planet...

(I repeat . . . I LOVE book signings!)

This store was FULL of nice, fun-loving people.  Again, I want to say that having fun is a big part of book signings, and these people at Waldenbooks seem to realize that.  Just before she left, I offered to take the store manager's picture, but she declined . . . saying that she wasn't very photogenic.  Bull.  In my opinion, Debbie's picture would have been the nicest one up here.  Thank you, Debbie, for the great signing, and for having a store full of great employees!
