"No one is perfect."

Most models think they are perfect - perfect shape, perfect eyes, perfect facial structure and so on.  Most have an attitude, and believe, "My pictures don't need editing!"  The truth is, no one could be more wrong.  Did you ever see a model on the front page of a glamour magazine with less than perfect white teeth, ugly moles on her body, or cuts, scrapes or bruises on her arms?  How often do you see an over-weight model in any men's magazine?  Ever see bloodshot eyes on the cover of Maxim?

In today's' highly competitive world, how many girls with less-then-perfect portfolios or comp cards actually get the high-paying modeling jobs they are looking for?

Not many - probably closer to none.  Chances are, if an up-and-coming model lets . . . less-than becoming . . . photos of ANY type be seen by important people in the industry, she will go no further than a few rungs up the ladder, if anywhere in the modeling industry at all.

That's what Carl Merritt Photography is all about.  We can make average-looking models look good.  We make even the most beautiful of models look even better!  We can make sure you have the best digital shots possible for your portfolios and comp cards!

"How does it work?"

By directing the models into very specific poses during the shoots, we all but eliminate the problems caused by some models' attitudes of, "I know what poses look best for me!"  This also saves time and money for both the photographer and model.  How much time/money/energy is wasted when a photographer is simply taking pictures while the model moves around in different poses? How many pictures are wasted because the model don't know when the photographer is going to take the shot and she blinks, or lets out her tummy for an instant?  That type of shooting may look glamorous on television, however, in real life, it's not the most efficient way to give the model the best possible portfolio that she needs.  Don't forget, it's the photographer who can see what the picture is going to look like on the camera, not the model.

After the shoot is completed, we then edit the pictures.  This could take hours, days, or even weeks - depending upon the model, the number of flaws and what she's looking for in her pictures.  We completely remove any blemishes, unwanted lines, and so on.  We will make the model's skin look as smooth as silk. If the model needs to shed a few pounds, or has unwanted stretch marks, we'll make that look right also. If the model wants to look a few years younger, we do that all the time, and it's easier than you may think.  Through use of computer editing, we will give the model a digital "nip tuck" that will look more appealing to any modeling agency on the planet than just plain, unedited photos shot by many photographers who take a thousand shots and only use four or five.

When the editing is complete, there are a variety of ways we can send the models their pictures.  We usually send them out by E-Mail.  Or, if you prefer, we can send you a CD with all the edited photographs included.
